A Co Donegal pensioner who was assaulted by burglars three months ago has died.

Suzy Arthur (89), died in hospital last night. She and her sister Isa (91) had been attacked on July 1st at their shared home.

Ms Arthur had never left hospital after the July incident.

Her sister spoke after the incident about how persons had called to the property offering to paint it, and how hours later individuals had smashed their way into the house.

The raiders had thrown the late woman to the ground and broken her hip before ransacking the property at Feddyglass, Raphoe, on the main Letterkenny to Lifford Road.

Her sister said afterwards: “I was out in the garden and when I came in they shoved me into the living room. I saw Suzy on the ground and she couldn’t get up.

“I tried to shout that I was getting a gun but they were too strong for me. I just wished I had more strength to fight back.

“They searched the house looking for stuff and ransacked Suzy’s bedroom but we don’t have anything.”

The raid was the sixth such incident at the elderly sisters’ home.

A Garda investigation into the latest incident has not so far resulted in arrests.

Gardaí were given a description of the men and the car they were driving at the time.
