A woman in her 40s has been arrested after gardaí seized more than €200,000 worth of cannabis and heroin during searches in Limerick and Dublin.

As part of an operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in Limerick, gardaí stopped a car on Clonmacken Road on Wednesday.

During a search of the vehicle gardaí uncovered an estimated €45,000 worth of suspected cannabis.

The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 40s, was arrested at the scene and taken to Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick city for questioning.

During follow-up searches at a residential property in Tallaght, south-west Dublin, gardaí found a further €110,000 of suspected cannabis herb and €56,000 of suspected heroin.

The drugs found in the searches have been sent for further analysis.

The woman is currently detained in Limerick under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
