Some 480 litres of vodka, liqueur and wine worth over €15,400 was seized by Revenue officers in Dublin Port on Friday.

Revenue officers discovered the contraband alcohol hidden in a consignment of food after they stopped and searched a Latvian-registered truck with a refrigerated trailer which had arrived from Rotterdam.

Revenue seized 298.8 litres of vodka, 108 litres of liqueurs and 74.5 litres of wine.

The vodka and liqueurs were Ukrainian brands Hlebniy Dar and Nemiroff, while the wine was Moldovan, branded Salcuta and Imperial Vin.
