Gardaí have arrested three men following the shooting of a man in Murroe, Co Limerick on Saturday.

The 51-year-old man later died at University Hospital Limerick.

The three men, two in their late 40s and one in his 20s, were arrested on Saturday night in the Limerick area.

They are currently detained at Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007. They can be held for up to seven days.

It is understood the man was shot at a motorcycle club near Mountfune.

Gardaí and emergency services were called the scene at 3.10pm.

He was pronounced dead at University Hospital Limerick shortly before 5pm.
