Man wielding crossbow robs shop in east Belfast

Man wearing camouflage jacket threatens staff

Police in Belfast are looking for a man armed with a crossbow who robbed a shop on Saturday morning.

The PSNI said in a statement the incident happened on the Newtownards Road close to its junction with Dee Street in East Belfast shortly before 9.10am.

They said the man went into the shop and threatened staff members with the weapon before making off with a sum of money.

“He was wearing a camouflage jacket, blue jeans and trainers. The members of staff were not injured during the incident,” a police spokesman said.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that will assist the investigation to contact them in Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
