A man was seriously injured in a shooting incident in Bray, Co Wicklow in the early hours of today.

The 39-year-old was wounded when shots were fired through the window of a house in the town’s Heatherwood estate shortly after midnight.

He was hit a number of times in the upper body, gardaí said.

The victim was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin where his condition is described as serious.

A woman (41) who was in the property at the time of the shooting was not injured.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.
