Man’s death investigated by gardaí following postmortem

Appeal for information after body found in apartment in Dublin city last week

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the death of a man whose body was found at an apartment in Dublin last week.

The remains of John Stewart (54) were discovered at an address near Clanbrassil Street in the south inner city last Thursday.

The scene was preserved for forensic examination and while a postmortem was subsequently carried out, no cause of death has been released.

However, gardai at Kevin Street station say they are now investigating “all circumstances” in the run up to his death and have appealed for information.

In particular they are eager to trace his movements between last Tuesday, December 1st and Wednesday. It is believed he may have spent some of this time in the city centre.

He is thought to have been dressed in a padded grey zip up coat with light coloured jeans and a grey woolly hat. He was five foot ten inches in height and of average build.
