Gardaí are investigating the death of a man in his 50s whose body was found in a south Dublin park. The discovery was made on Monday morning.
The alarm was raised about 7.45am when the remains were found in Lorcan O'Toole Park, Kimmage, Dublin 12. The area was sealed off when gardaí arrived and an investigation was begun.
A pathologist carried out a preliminary examination in situ before a removal to the Dublin City Morgue for a postmortem. Gardaí said the course of the investigation into the man’s death would be decided by the postmortem outcome.
The Irish Times understands there were no obvious signs of foul play at the scene and early indications suggest the man’s death was not a murder.
It is also understood the man experienced an acute health episode in the park and died at the scene.
Garda Headquarters, Phoenix Park, Dublin, said officers were "investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a man in his 50s" in the park.
