Man injured in Christmas ‘hit and run’ dies in hospital

A man who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision in north Co Dublin in December has died.

Callum Grimes (27) has been in hospital since the incident on the R127 Skerries to Loughshinny Road in the early hours of December 27th. He was pronounced dead on Friday at Beaumont Hospital.

Gardaí said the coroner had been notified and a postmortem examination was scheduled to take place on Monday.

Gardaí at Balbriggan are investigating the incident and have again appealed for information about the collision.

A spokesman said gardaí were “particularly anxious” to speak to anyone who may have seen a blue Volkswagen Transporter van with an 06-C registration which left Strand Street in Skerries after 1.30am on December 27th last and travelled on the R128 towards Loughshinny.
