Man charged with murder in Kilkenny on Tuesday

A 29-year-old has appeared in court and charged with the murder of a man in Kilkenny on Tuesday.

Andrew Cash of Highrath, Clara, was charged at Kilkenny Garda station early this morning with murdering John Cash (40) on Hebron Road in Kilkenny town just after 12pm on Tuesday.

He was also charged with assault causing harm to Elizabeth Cash, John Cash's wife.

John Cash was found with severe injuries and died a short time later at St Luke’s General Hospital.

The accused appeared before Carlow District Court this morning where details of his arrest were heard. He made no reply when charged.

Gardaí requested the accused be remanded on bail for a week. Judge Geraldine Carthy agreed to grant legal aid and remanded Mr Cash in custody until next Wednesday when he will appear before Cloverhill District Court in Dublin.
