A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman who drowned while on holidays earlier this year.

Lu Na McKinney (35) died on April 13th at Devenish Island on Lough Erne in Co Fermanagh.

On Thursday evening, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said it had arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of murder. It followed a “review into the circumstances”, carried out by detectives from the Serious Crime Branch.

Gardaí are working with the PSNI to investigate the incident.

Det Insp David McGrory said the suspect was being held at Omagh where he was helping police with their inquiries.

“I would like to appeal to any witnesses to come forward and also anyone who had contact with Lu Na McKinney, who lived in Convoy, Co Donegal, in the months preceding her death,” he said.

It is understood the woman was checking her boat was securely tied to the jetty before going to bed when she entered the water.
