Man arrested after gardaí seize €70,000 worth of drugs in Dundalk

Some €45,000 in cash also seized after vehicle was stopped and searched on Tuesday

A man has been arrested after gardaí seized €70,000 worth of drugs and €45,000 in cash during a search in Dundalk, Co Louth.

At about 11am on Tuesday, gardaí stopped and searched a vehicle on the Carrickmacross Road and found €45,000 in cash concealed in the vehicle.

During a follow-up search of a property on Park Street, Dundalk, an estimated €53,000 worth of suspected cocaine and €17,000 of suspected MDMA was uncovered, along with other drug paraphernalia.

Following the searches a man in his 50s was arrested over the drug seizures and is currently being held at Dundalk Garda station. The man is detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
