Man arrested after €1.75 million worth of cocaine seized in Dublin

Gardaí stopped and searched vehicle in Clondalkin and discovered 25kg of drug

Gardaí seized €1.75 million of cocaine and arrested a man following an operation in Clondalkin on Friday.

In a statement on Saturday morning, the force said that gardaí had stopped a vehicle on St Cuthberts Road late on Friday afternoon and conducted a search of it.

During the course of the search what is believed to be 25kg of cocaine was found in the vehicle. The seized substance is to be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

A man in his 30s was arrested in relation to the incident and was detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Clondalkin Garda station.

He can be held for up to a period of seven days.
