Gardaí have arrested two people on suspicion of the murder of a four year old boy in Limerick in March.

The boy died after sustaining serious head injuries at his home in Rathbane, Co Limerick, on March 13th, 2021.

On Thursday gardaí in Limerick arrested a man, aged in his 30s, and a woman, aged in her 20s, on suspicion of murder.

Both suspects are being held at separate Garda stations in Limerick City under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. They can be questioned for up to 24 hours.

He was treated at University Hospital Limerick and Cork University Hospital before being transferred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin. He died there three days after the incident.
