HSA and gardaí are investigating death involving a vehicle at Ballycallan on Tuesday

A man (60) has died and his son seriously injured following a farm incident in Co Kilkenny on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to the farm in Clonard, Ballycallan when an incident took place involving a loader vehicle about 6.20pm.

A Garda spokesman said the man suffered fatal injuries was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second man, understood to be the man’s son and in his late 20s, suffered injuries but they are not believed to be life-threatening.

He was so taken to St Luke's General Hospital in Co Kilkenny.

The Health Service Authority (HSA) and the Gardaí are investigating the incident.

An inspector from the HSA is currently examing the scene.

Figures from the HSA showed there were 18 deaths in agriculture reported in 2015, this included four child fatalities.
