Man (53) charged by police investigating murder of Lyra McKee

Detectives investigating the murder of Lyra McKee have charged a 53-year-old man with riot, assault, and throwing petrol bombs.

The man is expected to appear before Derry Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

A 44-year-old man was also arrested on Friday, pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

Ms McKee was shot while observing a riot in the Creggan area of Derry in April 2019.

Three men have already been charged with the murder of Ms McKee and another four have been charged with rioting and associated offences.
