Gardaí renew appeal for witnesses to Sligo crash

Gardaí investigating a fatal road crash involving a number of vehicles and a pedestrian on the N4 at Whitehill in Co Sligo are renewing their appeal for witnesses.

The crash occurred on Thursday morning, August 13th, at approximately 11.15am, three kilometres south (Dublin side) of Castlebaldwin.

A male in his early 60s was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle as he was working on the roadside.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Sligo Regional Hospital.

A man in his 50s was also airlifted to University Collage Hospital Galway and two other men were taken to Sligo Regional Hospital with injuries described as non life threatening.

The stretch of road was closed for a period of time and technically examined.
