This incident maybe linked to another shooting at the Mace Service Station in Castlebar on January 6th this year when a relative of the person shot last night was also shot. The culprits on that occasion fled from the scene in a black coloured Golf g.t.i car which has not been located to date.

Gardaí at Castlebar are appealing for assistance from members of the public regarding any sightings of either the bronze coloured Audi car or the black g.t.i golf used in Januarys shooting.
