Two men have been arrested after cannabis was discovered in the lining of a suitcase in a house in north Dublin on Tuesday morning.

Gardaí from the Blanchardstown Drugs Unit seized over eight kilos of cannabis plant as part of a planned search of a house at Lohunda Downs, Clonsilla, Dublin 15 on Tuesday morning. The drugs were discovered sealed in the lining of a suitcase which had originated in Nigeria.

Two men aged 22 and 37 were arrested at the scene and detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. The men have since been released from Garda custody without charge.

An investigation into the drugs seizure continues and files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
