A third youth has been charged over a burglary where a gang armed with knives allegedly threatened to chop off a woman’s fingers in front of her young son.

The Dublin Children’s Court heard the raiders also threatened to chop off her 10-year-old son’s fingers before making off with €30,000 and a high-powered car.

The 16-year-old youth was refused bail when he appeared at the juvenile court on charges of motor theft and aggravated burglary at a house in Citywest in Dublin on November 11th, 2014.

Garda Conor Fleming objected to bail citing the seriousness of the offences and fears of intimidation. Two other youths, aged 18 and 16, have already been charged and are awaiting trial.
