Trial date set for seven charged with murdering Tallaght man

Eighth person charged with assaulting Dale Creigthon in same incident

A date has been set for the trial of seven people charged with murdering 20-year-old Dale Creighton in Tallaght on New Year's Day.

An eighth person will go on trial charged with assault causing harm to Mr Creighton

All eight, who are in their 20s and originally from Tallaght, will stand trial in October 2016. The Central Criminal Court trial is expected to last eight weeks.

Mr Creighton died in hospital on January 2nd, two days after he was injured at a footbridge on Saint Dominic’s Road, Tallaght.

Charged with his murder are Aisling Burke (21) and her 26-year-old brother David Burke, both with addresses at Beechpark, Collinstown, Co Westmeath.

Also charged with Mr Creighton’s murder are Graham Palmer (24) of Park Avenue, Portarlington, Co Laois; Ross Callery (21), Brittas, Co Dublin; James Reid (24), Glen Aoibhinn, Gorey, Co Wexford; Jason Beresford (21), Coill Diarmuida, Casledermot, Co Kildare; and Gerard Stephens (25), Grosvner Square, Rathmines in Dublin.

James O’Brien (22) of The Mill, Baltinglass, Co Wicklow, is charged with assault causing harm to Mr Creighton.

Mr Justice Paul Carney heard that the trial would last eight weeks and set a date for October 3rd, 2016.
