Man pleads guilty to dangerous driving causing deaths of two friends

A Co Donegal man has been remanded in custody after pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing the deaths of two friends.

Dermot Dowd (24), of Donegal Road, Ballybofey, appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court.

Kiara Baird (19), and mother-of-three Maria Wallace (38), died after the car in which they were passengers hit a pole at Glenfin Road, Ballybofey on September 21st, 2016.

Mr Dowd was remanded in custody until the next sitting of the circuit court in January.

A psychiatric report and probation court was ordered in the case by Judge John Aylmer.
