Man admits possession of weapons and drugs worth €3.4m

A man has admitted his role in the possession of €3.4 million worth of drugs and six firearms including a machine gun.

Ivan Tihon (32), of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of ecstasy, cocaine and cannabis for sale or supply.

He also pleaded guilty to possession and control of various types of 9mm and .22 calibre pistols, one 9mm Steyr submachine gun, 96 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 50 rounds of .22 ammunition.

He was found with the drugs and guns on April 14th, 2014.

Judge Martin Nolan remanded Tihon in custody until March 24th for sentencing. He ordered that various reports be prepared.

Nine men in total were arrested as part of a Garda operation tackling the sale and supply of drugs. Various seizures of the items were made in Dublin and Meath.
