A couple returning from the Canary Islands had €20,000 in cash seized from their luggage by Revenue Customs officers yesterday.

The pair were stopped at Knock (Ireland West) airport after they arrived on a flight from Lanzarote.

The money was concealed in clothing which was packed on their carry-on luggage.

This morning at Carrick-on-Shannon district court Judge Geoffrey Browne allowed officers to detain the cash for three months to carry out further investigations.
