Jawbone Up Move
With product naming apparently having been farmed out to Yoda, what is one of the smartest of wearable tech companies bringing to us? This is a new tracker alternative to the popular Up wristband. The water-resistant Up Move is a clip on, with a selection of colours and integrated LED display giving you a heads-up on progress. It tracks steps taken, calories burned, hours slept etc and pairs up with your smartphone for a good dose of digital nagging. Or as Jawbone calls it: smart coaching. But then that's the whole idea. Guilt + app = motivation. €50 from jawbone.com
Trakdot
Does the number of luggage-tracking start-ups speak volumes about the amount of stray baggage sitting on the world's carousels? Or is it simply an easy fix in a connected world? Trakdot launches itself with a claim of unlimited global coverage for one yearly subscription. It's easy to use. Register your unit, stick in a couple of AA batteries and press a button. Trakdot snoozes when the plane is in the air, then wakes up with a text or email to you when it lands. Or it lets you know that it's still back at your departure point. £79.99 from trakdot.com, including a year's subscription
Kodak Pixpro SP360 Action Camera
With a retro-look evoking Kodak's classic film packaging, the Pixpro SP360 is yet another action camera but with an interesting take. Its ultra-ultra wide-angle lens offers a 360º view, so you really do have eyes on the back of your head with the helmet mount, allowing some pretty extraordinary footage. The spec is impressive too, with 1080 HD video, wifi control, motion detector and time lapse. And the vaguely gimmicky-looking casing is actually shockproof, freeze-proof, dust-proof and water-resistant. $349, see kodakpixpro.com
