The Killarney Walking Festival (June 19th to 21st) is an ideal way to celebrate the summer solstice. It's a weekend of guided walks through the reeks, heaths and forests that the Fianna once roamed. The most interesting trek departs Killarney in the dead of night in order to capture the first rays of the summer solstice sunrise on the summit of The Paps of Danu, a mountain dedicated to the goddess Anú who represents all that is fertile. This festival is for everyone, from families with children to walking enthusiasts. Register at killarneywalkingfestival.ie.
