Does your mutt have what it takes to win the Best Behaved Dog competition at the opening of St Anne’s Dog Park in Raheny tomorrow? No? Nor ours. Luckily, the DSPCA has also included a Waggiest Tail category. If there’s also an award for Demented Rolling in Mud or Demented Refusal to Drop the Ball, it could be a big day for our pooch.

It kicks off at 1pm with the official opening by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Naoise Ó Muirí, followed by food, family fun and facepainting for children, as well as dog training, grooming, and microchipping at a reduced cost for dog owners. The park is located at the Red Stable entrance to St Anne's, beside the Model Car Track, and admission is free. (The DSPCA is also seeking volunteers from noon-3pm; email natasha.eames@dspca.ie.)
