Property manager Caroline Freyne (33), from Rathfarnham, and Gavin Little (32), a business analyst from Killiney, met through friends – and a mutual love of rugby – five years ago and have a four-year-old son, Alex.

They got engaged on July 20th, 2014, Caroline’s parents’ 39th wedding anniversary.

On Friday April 10th, Caroline and Gavin were married at the Church of the Annunciation in Rathfarnham. Ruth Cahill sang accompanied by organist Marie Cruise. They invited 138 guests back to Carton House afterwards.

Caroline found her dress in The Town Bride and her bridesmaids were Alison Freyne, Raquel Pereyra (flying in from Tenerife) and Laura Forde.

The best man was Stephen Lucey – whose speech was “comedy gold”, according to the bride – and groomsmen were Richard Barber and Ross Kelly (Alex’s godfather who travelled from the Cayman Islands).

The bride’s favourite part of the day was “walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Gavin standing at the top of the church. Any nerves I had immediately disappeared.”

And the groom’s? “The journey from the church to Carton. Caroline and I were able to relax and take stock after the ceremony.”

For both, “it was especially important that Alex felt involved in our wedding. He didn’t stop smiling from start to finish. He definitely enjoyed the impromptu game of rugby in Carton House with our friends and family.” His buddy for the day was his cousin Ava Kenny.

After dinner The Bentley Boys came on stage. The couple had their first dance to Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud.

The newlyweds spent a week in Dubai and the family of three live in Stillorgan, halfway between Alex’s grandparents Viva and MacDara Freyne and Toni and David Little.
