I have had this particular bee buzzing in my bonnet for a considerable amount of time and I feel that now is the right time to release it from bondage.
When it comes to the more mature generation (women in particular), Ireland sadly lacks positive portrayals, particularly when it comes to social media. I am about to mix that all up and knock the taboo off ageing bodies by spinning it into my own changing reality.
I, for one, am super-excited to move into my new body, to say goodbye to my childbearing years and declare my body to be sacrosanct and free. The march of evolution has now deemed my body unfit for further procreation and I want to shout it out from the rooftops.
Don’t get me wrong, I have four beautiful children but now my march is taking a different direction and a different urgency.
I am sorry to say this but I won’t be the Mammy stoking the proverbial home fires for my cherubs to return to roost, but rather the mother Titan eager to step forth and reclaim her courtship of yesteryear with her husband, albeit a little older and wiser.
I look forward to all the new life experiences that are waiting in the wings and the intimacy of new friendships unfolding.
In anticipation of what’s in store just let me finish by saying this: as we move forward in the great circle of life, that life continues to evolve, and where there is life there is hope. Here’s to the “zest” years of my life coming down the track. And yes I’ll keep smiling.
