From Caoimhe to Dad: “You build brilliant contraptions, make scarecrows and all”

Caoimhe Campbell, aged 14, Co Clare

Dear Dad,

I want to take this opportunity to tell you how much I love you and how much you mean to me. So I’m going to take my time, and tell you through rhyme!

Work...

When you’re at work, you have to stay away,

READ SOME MORE

But you still find time to call every day.

You work week after week, without a whinge or a moan,

Knowing that soon you will be coming home!

Chickens...

You clean out the poop trays, wash the nesting boxes,

Make sure the enclosure is safe, to keep out crows and foxes.

You build brilliant contraptions, make scarecrows and all,

And even keep your patience when some ideas start to fall!

Technology...

Your techno skills are the best the house,

Although Mother still has trouble coming to terms with the mouse!

Without your guidance, we all would be sitting

With Mother, a crochet hook and some knitting!

Tidiness...

Father, Father, what can I say?

Apart from the office from which Mother has to stay away!

I know you try your best, but you’ve passed on to me,

The talent of stuffing things in cupboards and not keeping things clean!

Me...

You put a smile on my face when you drive down the lane,

I feel so extremely thrilled to see you again.

With the chickens, the dog, and of course Mother too,

You’re an amazing father, and I love you!

Happy Father’s day, Dad. I love you so much!
