Three days after U2’s return to Croke Park, it has emerged that bassist Adam Clayton has more than one “Beautiful Day” to celebrate.

In a personal advert in Tuesday’s Irish Times, Clayton (57)and his wife Mariana (38) have announced the birth of a baby, simply saying: “Adam and Mariana Clayton are delighted to announce the birth of their beautiful baby girl Alba.”

The couple married in a registry office in Dublin in 2013, holding a second ceremony days later on the French Riviera at the 14th-century château in Mandelieu-la-Napoule near Cannes.

Originally from Brazil, Ms Clayton now works as a director at a leading contemporary art gallery, Michael Werner in London and New York.

Clayton was previously engaged to supermodel Naomi Campbell, but was not previously married.

U2 played to a crowd of 80,000 at a sold-out gig in Croke Park in Dublin at the weekend. The band brought their The Joshua Tree album back to Croke Park 30 years after the original Joshua Tree tour hit the GAA stadium.
