Having been a blank spot on the BMW map of Ireland since 2009, Galway has a franchise for the brand again

Having been a blank spot on the BMW map of Ireland for some time, Galway this week got rather better Christmas news with the announcement that 11 new jobs are to be created at Colm Quinn Galway, the city's new BMW dealership. The business already employs 14 staff in the combined BMW and Mini premises.

Galway has done without a BMW dealer since 2009, when the closure of Tom Hogan Motors saw the loss of 80 jobs and three franchises. Hogan’s had the BMW franchise for only a year, having taken it over from Barry Motors.

Presumably, the re-opening and expansion of the BMW network in the west augurs well for Galway’s economic performance, and that’s certainly the thinking of dealer principal Colm Quinn. “As the economy begins to pick up, it is a great time to be opening in Galway - figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) recently show that new car sales in November are up 12 percent on last year. We are looking forward to adding to the 100,000 BMW drivers in Ireland and creating new jobs with this dealership.

“We have some exciting plans for 2015 including the opening of a roof-top putting green for our customers. We already offer full corporate facilities including public wifi, work stations and private offices - we’re looking forward to enhancing the customer experience even more during the next year.”
