A Victorian house on Killiney Hill, Co Dublin has sold for €9 million, making it the second highest residential property sale in the capital this year.

The off-market sale of Kenah Hill on St George’s Avenue appeared on the Residential Property Price Register in recent days.

The seven-bed, three-storey property was owned for more than a decade by entrepreneurs Brian Long and Olivia Gaynor-Long, who bought it in 2004 for about €7.7 million from Mondello Park owner Martin Birrane.

Upgrade

It is likely the transaction is a private transfer of ownership within the Long family, as no buyer has emerged, and the Longs have invested significantly in Kenah Hill’s upgrade in recent years.

Long, who founded Parthus Technologies, benefited substantially from the firm's flotation and later acquisition in 2002. He continues to invest in technology companies.

Gaynor-Long owns The Residence Members Club on Dublin’s St Stephen’s Green.

Kenah Hill has three acres of private grounds, a tennis court and heated swimming pool. The house itself has about 930sq m (10,000sq ft) of space.

Values in the area skyrocketed in the 1990s, leading Kenah Hill to hit the market at the turn of the millennium with a €10 million asking price.

Prices in the market then fell substantially and the house failed to sell, eventually re-emerging in 2003 with an €8 million asking price before being bought over a year later by Long and Gaynor-Long.
