The market may be in recovery but good old fashioned property auctions remain thin on the ground.

Gone are the heady days of agents packing crowds into sale rooms before knocking down the latest slew of multi- million euro properties.

Nowadays auction-hungry agents chasing that sale room buzz must get their fix elsewhere with more modest sales from time to time.

Last week DNG agent Brian Dempsey took to the floor in Harvey Nichols at Dundrum Town Centre for a charity auction of "pre-loved" designer handbags in aid of Spinal Injuries Ireland.

Brian, who also featured in RTE's Desperate House Buys programme, drummed up over €10,000 on the night.

Handbags were donated by Lisa Fitzpatrick and Rosanna Davison who attended on the evening with her mother Diane, a director of Spinal Injuries Ireland.

By all accounts its was a great fun event, and judging by the photos it looks like Brian enjoyed himself too.

Who was that lady in the background in the leathers giving him the eye? Luckily enough, Brian assures us, it was his lovely wife Grace.
