People who live in the houses on and just off Church Road in leafy south Co Dublin suburb of Killiney aren't usually described as existing on society's margins. But artist Emma McGuire's photographs in the Gallery of Photography's new Notes from the Margins exhibition documents the experience of her and her friends renting (post-property crash) the area's run-down homes originally designed for family living.

"The uncertain circumstances of the renters are reflected in the homes they inhabit – both have been left to fend for themselves" says the Gallery's note on her haunting photographs, Church Road.

Other artists include Malcolm Craig Gilbert, whose work presents a personal insight into the effects of post- traumatic stress disorder – Gilbert served 18 years as a police officer in Northern Ireland.

Notes from the Margins runs until August 9th. See galleryofphotography.ie
