Great to see Irish designers selected for notable mention in this month's edition of interiors style bible Elle Decoration (elledecoration.co.uk). In its February edition – The Trend Issue – it predicts the key interior design styles, colours, decorating ideas and people shaping home decor in 2016.

Irish design features as a Talking Point, and is the only country highlighted.

"Ireland is now the place to find exciting contemporary design," it says.

The three names they select for 2016 are young Carlow-based mechanical engineer-turned-furniture-maker Cillian Ó Súilleabháin who uses traditional wood materials to produce minimalist contemporary designs (cosfurniture.ie); Superfolk, the design duo of Jo Anne Butler and Gearóid Muldowney making simple homewares with the most natural of materials (superfolk.com) and Hennessy & Byrne, specialising in dining ware made from Connemara and Kilkenny stone. It was set up by second generation stonemason Eric Byrne six years ago (hennessyandbyrne.com).
