Antique furniture doesn't have to stay brown for ever. A perfect lockdown project could be to give granny's sideboard, a faded table or vintage kitchen chairs a whole new look. Irish paint company Colourtrend, based in Celbridge, Co Kildare, has endless summery shades across its rangesand they come in different finishes suitable for woodwork. This art deco style sideboard sings in a colour called Sin City 0816, and looks good against an eye-popping shade called Blooming Perfect 0062.

Both are part of a summer range that include several cheering shades of yellow for hallways, kitchens and bathrooms. You can browse paint shades and room sets at colourtrend.ie, ask questions and order paint. Prices range from €75.00 - €32.50 per 5 litres. The company also delivers. Phone: 01 628 8224

Building better?

How might architecture change after Covid? After looking at our own four walls for so long, many of us are dreaming of bigger rooms, more light, private spaces, and spaces that can change with our needs. Could we see real innovations coming down the line? What about co-working spaces as part of apartment design, mandatory balconies, wider pavements, more public parks? The Irish Architecture Foundation are holding a public discussion, via Zoom, with the eight architects who featured in last month's piece in this paper by Gemma Tipton on the same topic. Architects on Lockdown – Live takes place on May 12th at 6.30pm. Register to attend and submit your questions to the people who shape our spaces – and our lives – at architecturefoundation.ie
