Property developer Greg Kavanagh continues his forward march with new planning applications, lodged in August, for two new developments on Dublin's northside.
Duinch, a family home in Hollystown, Dublin 15, was acquired by Kavanagh’s Crekav Landbank Investments in January for €800,000. Additional money was likely paid for its substantial lands and a vacant neighbouring site, both of which adjoin Hollystown Golf Club.
In the newly submitted plans, the original Duinch house will remain on the site with nearly one acre of gardens, while 18 new family homes will be built on the remainder of the eight-acre site.
Ten of these units will be Edwardian-style four-bed houses of 185-253sq m. The remainder will be smaller three-beds featuring modern designs. Two commercial units with a separate entrance will also be constructed.
Separately, just a mile away, Kavanagh is in the process of securing planning permission for 175 houses on a 20.58 acre site.
In Dublin 11, the developer has assembled about 14 acres of land with frontage onto McKee Avenue and Jamestown Road in Finglas and is seeking planning for a large mixed-use scheme.
In 2014, two adjacent sites, came on the market with two different agents seeking €3.9 million and €3.5 million respectively.
The majority of the site under the recently submitted plans will be developed as commercial premises. The remainder will be developed as a residential scheme comprising 68 houses and 40 duplex units, of either two or three storeys. The most unusual units are 16 one-bedroom duplex apartments, which will each extend to a surprisingly large 79sq m.
In other news, New Gen recently completed the purchase of nine-storey College House on Townsend Street, formerly occupied by An Post.
