Adam's, St Stephen's Green, Dublin is holding a Sunday Interiors Auction tomorrow at 11am when over 600 "interesting, unusual and stylish furniture, household furnishings, paintings and prints, china and glass, and fine silver" go under the hammer.
Among the highlights in the silver section is a rare piece of what is known as Cork Republican Silver. The circular tray was made by the Cork silversmith William Egan during the Civil War. In 1922, Cork was occupied by anti-Treaty forces. Egan, unable to send his work to the assay office in Dublin to be hallmarked, made his own Cork hallmark depicting a ship between two castles. The estimate for the tray is €10,000-€15,000.
The sale also includes Chinese and Japanese art including jade, bronzes, porcelain and ivory pieces.
