The last major painting by renowned equestrian artist Peter Curling to appear at auction was Horse Fair at Goresbridge which sold by de Veres in June for €31,000, well above the estimate (€20,000- €25,000).

Now, timed to coincide with the Longines Irish Champions Weekend – today at Leopardstown, tomorrow at The Curragh – de Veres has announced the sale of Curling's Hell for Leather with an estimate of €25,000-€35,000.

The auction house on Dublin’s Kildare Street is hoping to attract interest from some of this weekend’s racegoers.

The oil-on-canvas painting, measuring 24in by 60in, will go under the hammer in an auction in Buswell's Hotel on Tuesday, September 29th. The auction will feature 120 paintings and formal viewing begins on Friday, September 25th.
