Auction Results:

Sunday (January 28th) Hegarty's Auction Rooms, Bandon, Co Cork Some 75 per cent of lots sold.
Lot 64, a Regency circular "drum" table €4,650 (€2,500-€3,500);
Lot 37, an 18ct cluster ring with a 4.40ct Burmese ruby €4,100 (€3,500-€4,000);
Lot 15, an 18ct cluster ring with a 2.67ct Columbian emerald €2,900 (€2,800-€3,800);
Lot 6: Relaxing, oil-on-board painting, by Elizabeth Brophy (Australian/Irish) €2,150 (€2,000-€3,000);
Lot 54, a Regency mahogany fold-over card table €1,400 (€1,500-€2,500).
Among the unsold was Lot 95, an Irish silver teapot and a coffee pot made in 1975 by Alwright & Marshall Ltd (€1,300-€1,600).

"Fine Arts and Decorative Antique Interiors" auction at 2pm includes three pieces of Victorian taxidermy.
Lot 367 is a cased display entitled "The Pheasants of the World" by "John Leadbeater", a leading 19th-century London taxidermist, holder of a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria. The auctioneers said the case , was formerly owned by the 8th Marquis of Waterford of Curraghamore House and is of "museum quality", hence the estimate of €3,500-€5,500 [see photograph].

Lot 396 is a taxidermy African zebra head estimated at €1,500-€2,500 [see photograph];
and Lot 344, a South American baboon mounted on a display stand (€1,000-€1,500).Viewing today.

Monday (February 5th) Milltown Country Auction Rooms, Dromiskin, Dundalk, Co. Louth
Antiques auction at 4pm. Includes house contents of the late Fr William Murtagh, Clogherhead, Co Louth and the part contents of Willowfield, Jenkinstown, Co Louth. Among the lots:
a Regency mahogany extending dining table €2,000-€3,000;
a set of 10 Victorian mahogany dining chairs €800-€1,200.
Viewing today 10am-5pm, tomorrow (Sunday), noon-5pm and Monday, 10am-4pm.
