Rare Irish whiskies including: Lot 323, an unopened 134-year-old bottle of 'John Jameson's Old Irish Whiskey', distilled in 1883, bottled in October, 1911, in New York by CA Van Rensselaer & Co, 21 South William Street €4,800 (€5,000-€7,000) [see pic]; Lot 324, a bottle of 'Acushla Finest Old Irish Whiskey', a Dublin Whiskey Export Co brand that was popular in America before Prohibition €750 (€800-€1,200).

Tuesday (December 12th) Sotheby's, London. English Literature, History, Children's Books & Illustrations auction. An archive of photographs of Co Leitrim by Leland Lewis Duncan £9,375 (£8,000-£12,000) [see pic]; a first edition copy of The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde £27,500 (£6,000-£8,000). A copy of the first edition of Ulysses by James Joyce estimated at £150,000-£250,000 failed to sell.
Tuesday (December 12th) Adam's, 26 St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2. 'The Christmas Collection' Auction. Lot 512, a set of four oil-on-copper paintings by an unknown artist, described as English School (19th Century) – Ladies in 17th Century Costumes and with provenance given as "Captain HCP Hamilton, Moyne, Durrow, Co Laois", sold for €22,000 – more than 14 times the top estimate (€1,000-€1,500) [see pic]; Lot 231, an Egyptian silver and gold mounted cigarette case, a gift to the vendor from the former King Farouk of Egypt €1,300 (€1,500-€2,000)

An 18ct gold three-stone diamond ring (1.92cts) valued in September 2003 at €13,250 sold for €2,900 (€2,500-€3,500); a gold medal 'Football League of Ireland' - Shamrock Rovers Winners 1956/7 €340 (€200-€300).
Wednesday (December 13th) O'Reilly's Auction Rooms, Francis Street, Dublin 8. Jewellery auction. Lot 100, a diamond three-stone ring, with centre diamond of approx. 2.3ct G-H SI, flanked by two diamonds of approx. 2.4ct in total, €16,000 (€16,000-€20,000); Lot 322: a diamond 'full-eternity' ring in platinum by Cartier €12,000 (€12,000-€14,000); Lot 95, a diamond (1.04ct) and sapphire target €4,100 (€4,000-€6,000); Lot 57, a French early 20th century sapphire and diamond bow style bar brooch with calibré cut sapphires of approx 2.88ct and diamonds of approximately 1.50ct, mounted in platinum and 18ct gold €3,000 (€2,800-€3,800).
