Saturday (November 5th)

Marshs Auctioneers, 16 South Mall, Cork. 80 per cent of lots sold. Lot 391, an 18th-century glass salad bowl made by the Cork Glass Co. €2,800 (€500-€600); Lot 164, a Georgian mahogany Cork serving table €2,500 (€2,000-€3,000). A Victorian walnut and marble-topped dental cabinet, estimated at €3,000-€4,000 failed to sell.

Monday (November 7th)

Morgan O'Driscoll Auctioneers, Skibbereen, Co Cork. 'Off the Wall' Online Art Auction. 89 per cent of lots sold. Lot 86, Gary and Paul at the Olympics – an oil-on-canvas of the west Cork O'Donovan brothers, 2016 Summer Olympic Games silver rowing medallists, by Charles Mountjoy sold for €300, surprisingly below the estimate (€500-€700). Lot 7, a photograph of Lady Diana Spencer, London, September 1980, by John Minahan, (photographer's proof 1 of 3) €2,200 (€300-€500); Lot 4, The Pink House, Ballinasloe (oil-on-board), by Arthur K Maderson, €3,600 (€4,000-€6,000); Lot 3, Show Day (oil-on-board), by Mark O'Neill, €1,600 (€1,500-€2,000); Tulips in a Vase (oil-on-canvas), by Brian Ballard, €900 (€800-€1,200).

Tuesday (November 8th)

John Weldon Auctioneers, Cow’s Lane, Temple Bar, Dublin 8. Auction of jewellery, silver and gold coins. 61 per cent of lots sold. A lady’s 18ct gold Jaeger Le Coultre wrist watch bought at West’s in Dublin in 1962 for IR£260 sold for €1,600 (€1,600-€2,400); a Sri Lankan sapphire and diamond ring with an insurance valuation of €33,000 that was estimated at just €9,000-€12,000 failed to sell.

Tuesday (November 8th)

Oliver Usher Auctioneers, John Street, Kells, Co Meath. 80 per cent of lots sold including, in taxidermy: a Greater Kudu Spiral-horned Antelope, €3,400 (€1,500-€1,800); and a Bull Water Buffalo €3,400 (€1,500-€1,800).

Hegarty's Auction Rooms, The Bypass, Bandon, Co Cork. Antiques auction at 7pm to include items from the estates of the late collectors Dr Marie Baker (Bantry) and Maggie Gliksten (Kinsale). Lot 55, an Irish satinwood and marquetry inlaid demi-lune side table by William Moore the renowned 18th-century cabinet maker, €15,000-€20,000; a Killarney-ware marquetry yew wood jewellery box, with images of Killarney – including Glena Cottage – featuring double doors which fold out to reveal five drawers, €2,500-€3,000 .

Bonhams, New Bond Street, London. An auction of prints includes a woodcut of Day and Night (1938), a famous image by the Dutch graphic artist MC Escher (1898-1927), estimated at £12,000-£18,000 [see above].

Thursday (November 17th)

Christie’s, London. ‘The English Collector’ auction at 2pm includes Lot 50, “an Irish George II mahogany side table”, made circa 1750-1760, formerly in Bloomfield House, Co Mayo until 1924 when the house was sold by the Ruttledge family (it was later demolished), £50,000-£80,000.
