Tuesday & Wednesday (January 27th & 28th) Bonhams, London. The Gentleman's Library Sale. A vintage Dunhill Aquarium cigarette lighter, £1,875 (€1,500); miniature gold bust of Sir Winston Churchill, £7,500 (£2,000- £3,000); section of the first transatlantic submarine telegraph cable, linking Ireland to Newfoundland, £1,375 (£500-£700).

Wednesday (January 28th) Christie's, New York. Old Master Paintings. Boy Peeling a Fruit by Caravaggio, $3 million- $5million, failed to sell.
