Architecture Week is taking place in England - from June 15th-24th - and there are design events happening across the country, with a strong emphasis on green design.

Activities include Walking into a Greener London. Using an Architecture Week Ordnance Survey map of London, you can visit RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) award-winning buildings, rest in green spaces en route and take in Architecture Week events.

These include an installation of mini wind turbines that generate enough power to light hundreds of LEDs. Wind movement will be reflected in waves of light (and who said wind power doesn't work?). Wind to Light, by Jason Bruges, is on the South Bank (of the Thames).

Families can head for Battersea Park where birds and their watchers have been given the design treatment. Here you can see urban nature from six architect-designed bird hides. Designers include: The Facility, Gianni Botsford Architects, MRJ Rundell and Associates, PDM Consultants with Enso Associates and Nick Stickland Architects, Spacelab, and first years at Oxford Brookes University.

In the west country, near Bath, you can hone and expand design skills and awareness by working alongside award-winning architecture practices on a weekend workshop. Units will be run by Mitchell Taylor Workshop, Feilden Clegg Bradley, Mole Architects and Gianni Botsford Architects.
