Throughout Food Month people will share with us their most treasured food memory.

The two of us had just landed in Paris ahead of a show, in February 2016. We were playing Fireworks festival, and it was one of our first gigs abroad together.

Both of our families had decided to come out for the weekend to watch the show, which made the whole weekend pretty special. We were walking around Montmartre waiting for the families to arrive.

It was a gorgeous, frosty night and we were starving. We ended up in the artists’ square near Sacre Coeur, very near Le Trianon, where we were playing the following night.

Bundled in

The area was pretty touristy but we found a warm, friendly place called Restaurant au Cadet de Gascogne and all bundled in. There was lots of sharing, passing food and wine around the table and families getting to know one another.

The more adventurous were passing around escargot and frogs legs, and there was some amazing duck on the menu, too. The families had all met once or twice before, but it was the first time everyone got to spend proper time together.

We have both moved away from home, so any quality time we get to spend with family is treasured.

Bonding time

Our folks took to each other immediately. The two dads had a bit of extra bonding time as they headed out on the streets to look for our manager Conor, who was about to join the party, though they ended up more lost than he was.

Having our families with us and getting on so well made the whole night pretty emotional and significant, and definitely one that will stay with us for a long time.

There was a great sense that everyone at the table would come to mean a lot to each other, and over the past year our families have become very close.
