A blast of Arctic air is moving across the United States and Canada, bringing record-breaking temperatures as low as -48°C in parts of the Midwest and East. In some areas, schools have closed, postal services have been halted, and residents have been advised to stay indoors until the polar vortex passes.

The Irish Times would like to hear from readers living in the affected areas. What does that kind of cold feel like? Have you experienced such low temperatures before? If you have lived in the US for a long time, have you observed a difference in the weather in recent years? What precautions do you have to take in such weather conditions?

You can share your experiences and photographs using this form.
