Inside track: what makes your area a great place to visit?

Hidden gems, secret spots ... tell us why we should visit your city, town or village this summer

Local recommendations can be invaluable when planning a trip
Local recommendations can be invaluable when planning a trip

School’s out and summer is here. How are you going to be spending it in your home away from home? What are the top tourist attractions in your area, and do you have a secret spot – a hidden gem – you’d be willing to share with us?

We want to hear from Irish readers living abroad about the best things to do in their adopted city, town or village. Tell us why we should visit this summer and what we shouldn’t miss.

It could be a favourite restaurant off the tourist trail, a museum or gallery that has something unique to offer visitors, an often overlooked architectural feature or monument, or maybe it is someone who makes visitors seem especially welcome when they visit.

Send your answers to the following questions to abroad@irishtimes.com, and include a short paragraph about yourself: where you live and what you do there, and when you left Ireland and why. Please keep submissions to a maximum of 500 words, and also send a summery photograph of yourself where you now live. A selection of responses may be published online. Thank you.
