The Táin March is a brilliantly barmy event recreating Queen Maeve's pillage of her neighbour's bull as told in the 7th century saga, the Táin Bó Cuailnge (cattle raid of Cooley), Europe's oldest recorded story. Re-enactors and the 27th Army Battalion will set out from Rathcrogan, Co Roscommon, on May 24th to recreate Maeve's journey to the Cooley Peninsula in search of her Brown Bull, reaching Omeath, Co Louth nine days later. Join the warriors at Longford, Granard, Fore, Kells, Ardee or at any point along the 250km route. tainmarch.net
