Albariño from Galicia in Spain is very popular in this country. It is also widely grown just over the border in Portugal, where it is known as Alvarinho. It tends to be similar but lighter than the Spanish versions.

Côtes du Rhône is a very large area in the south of France. The wines are generally big and powerful, perfect for these cooler autumn evenings. They can also offer great value for money.
